If you know me or you’ve read my book “Dear Future Wife” you’ll know that I love IKEA days. I know it’s a typically homosexual trait to be into interior design but I’m not afraid to say I’m heterosexual and like redecorating. It’s the creativity, the vision and the outcome that gets my juices flowing. See! nothing homosexual about that.
So last year I helped a friend turn this

“White Theme”
into this:

White Theme!
And I know I’m sounding like a “gay best friend” right now but I’m so freakin’ proud of it.
The sad story is, all the while I was fixing up a friend’s room, my room was in terrible shape. If you want to know how real it is, for the last year or two I’ve been sleeping on a mattress on the floor, convinced it was all part of the grind. Somehow sleeping on the floor would make my success story a little sweeter in the end.
Well this Christmas, I decided I was no longer about that life. I embarked on a mission to revamp my room.
To IKEA!
I must admit, it satisfies a male instinct in me to be presented with the challenge of flat packed furniture and to assemble it yourself. In fact maybe I could go so far as to contend that IKEA is the macho equivalent of interior design. Gone are the days when a man would build his own house, maybe even the days when a man would build his own shed. Thanks to IKEA men can build Swedish named flat packed furniture and that’s good enough for now.
So without much further ado, I present to you my revamped room.
I’ve done something similar about 2 years ago. Neatened up my apartment; problem is keeping it neat and tidy afterwards. Hope you can, Ola, because I failed!
The key is buying storage options that allow you to drop things and sort them out later! That way the room always looks tidy. Oh and keep giving things to charity! It makes room for new things, gives you less junk to tidy up and supports your local store.
Love. Great job, I have done the same, and do be proud!
